Last week we said good bye to our friend the turkey. This was my first experience preparing a turkey, but I think it went quite well. Thanks to a great husband who was willing to do all the dirty work we had the turkey in the freezer in just a few hours.
Step 1:Be Prepared before you start.
*
Step 2: Catch the Turkey (the rope was really unnecessary but J5 insisted, luckily the turkey was very good natured).
*
Step 3:Hang the turkey upside down by her feet.
*
Step 4:Using a small rope or piece of twine tie a rock to the turkeys head to hold the neck down straight.
*
Step 5:(This is the step where the kids and I went to visit the cows) Using a very sharp knife, remove the head.
*
Step 7:Remove the wings.
*
Step 8: Starting at the back end remove all the inside, including the neck.
*
Step 9:Clean off the body and rinse out the inside to prepare for the freezer.
*
Step 10: Pat dry
*
Step 11: Wrap like the most awkward birthday present you’ve ever wrapped.
*
Step 12: Freeze till Thanksgiving!
