I was never too drawn to romance novels, but if romance is on the menu the regency era is a fun place to start. I enjoyed Julianne Donaldson’s Edenbrook and was therefore excited to read Blackmoore. Her writing style is so normal, so easy to read, and so fast paced. The characters are easily distinguishable and entertainingly quirky. I loved Kate and her attempt to banish herself to life as a spinster only to find out she has sworn off romance simply because she was being so romantic. I admire a woman who tries to abandon her weaknesses but I admire even more a woman who turns her weaknesses into strengths. I myself have wished to run away to far off lands in hopes of hiding from my real dreams. I spent three months in Russia after breaking off a wedding engagement right after college. I too was sure that living across the ocean from my problems would make them disappear.
For those days when you need a book simply to entertain and put you back in touch with your romantic side, Blackmoore will not disappoint!
