Proof of Heaven

Proof of Heaven

I believe I have mentioned before that the year 2014 was one of deep reflection for me. My family was going through a very intense bump in the road and I often found myself pondering (not doubting, but really pondering) my beliefs. Somewhere along the line I decided to read Heaven is for Real, about a 4 year old who had a near death experience. I didn’t love the book and didn’t feel deeply convinced of its authenticity. Shortly after this someone had recommended Proof of Heaven. I wasn’t really in the mood for another NDE (near death experience) story but decided to tackle the project anyway. I wasn’t disappointed. Proof of Heaven seemed very sincere to me and although I have always believed in life after death I find comfort in believing that people have seen more than what I am able to understand. Eban Alexander wasn’t a religious person and he understood how the brain works while in a coma. To me this gave some credibility. But even without the neurosurgeon side of things I feel like Eban Alexander told a good solid story of the afterlife that provides our crazy world with a bit of hope for something better to come.

*I rate my books in 5 categories on a scale from 1-5 with 5 being the highest.
Historical Value- 0
Emotional Value- 4
Entertainment Value- 2
Personal Character Value- 3
Age recommendation- 18+
“Laughter and irony are at heart reminders that we are not prisoners in this world, but voyagers through it.”
“A story-a true story-can heal as much as medicine can.”
“Our eternal spiritual self is more real than anything we perceive in this physical realm, and has a divine connection to the infinite love of the Creator.”
“Communicating with God is the most extraordinary experience imaginable, yet at the same time it’s the most natural one of all, because God is present in us at all times. Omniscient, omnipotent, personal-and loving us without conditions. We are connected as One through our divine link with God.”
“My journey deep into coma, outside this lowly physical realm and into the loftiest dwelling place of the almighty Creator, revealed the indescribably immense chasm between our human knowledge and the awe-inspiring realm of God.”
“Physical life is characterized by defensiveness, whereas spiritual life is just the opposite.”
“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”
“There are really no “objects” in the world at all, only vibrations of energy, and relationships.”
“I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be.”
“The brain itself does not produce consciousness. That it is, instead, a kind of reducing valve or filter, shifting the larger, nonphysical consciousness that we possess in the non-physical worlds down into a more limited capacity for the duration of our mortal lives.”
“Your family is who you are.”
“If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things.”
