What a fascinating concept! Dividing society into factions (or groups in which every member shares the same predisposition to behave in a certain way) is a unique and deep idea. I have always prided myself in being well rounded, I like a variety of different things and I can usually see issues from multiple perspectives. As I was reading Divergent I would often place myself in one faction but then I would change and put myself somewhere else. One thing was for sure, I am not Dauntless. The verdict is still out as to what faction I would be!
During her 16 year old aptitude test, Tris finds out she is Divergent, which means she has a strong aptitude for multiple factions. Unsure what this information means she chooses to join the Dauntless. Divergent, the first of Veronica Roth’s trilogy, tells the story of Tris becoming Dauntless and the training program she must endure to be an official part of the group.
Divergent is very entertaining and exciting. I enjoyed the constant references to bravery, loyalty, selflessness, and other character traits. Definitely worth reading!
